Former Mexican President Fox Urges Marijuana Legalization At San Francisco Meeting

July 8 – At a meeting with drug reform advocates in San Francisco, former Mexican President Vicente Fox expressed support for California’s efforts to legally regulate marijuana, medical and otherwise.

Fox said that California has a strong cultural influence on Mexico, and that progress here would help efforts there.

Other speakers included Steve DeAngelo from Harborside Health Center, attorney Henry Wykowski, former Microsoft executive Jamen Shively, Dale Sky Jones for CCPR, Nate Bradley for LEAP and Dale Gieringer for California NORML.

Gieringer noted that marijuana prohibition is an international problem founded on international treaties, which need to be fixed through international cooperation by the U.S., Mexico, and other countries.

En una reunión con defensores de la reforma de drogas en San Francisco, ex presidente mexicano Vicente Fox expresó su apoyo a los esfuerzos de California regular legalmente marihuana, médica y de otro tipo.

Fox dijo que California tiene una fuerte influencia cultural en México, y que el progreso aquí ayudaría a iniciativas que se emprendan. Entre los oradores estuvieron Dale cielo Jones para CCPR, Nate Bradley para LEAP, y Dale Gieringer para California NORML.

Gieringer señaló que la prohibición de la marihuana es un problema internacional, fundado en los tratados internacionales, que deben fijarse mediante la cooperación internacional por los Estados Unidos, México y otros país.
