Defending Drug Cases in California

Drug crimes come in many forms and getting arrested for any type of drug-related offense can be life-altering.
In California, getting arrested for a drug charge typically mandates jail and custody time. There is a diversion option on low-level offenses, but certain criteria must be met to qualify for the program and most judges become unforgiving if there is one or more transgression when going through the program.

As is typical in most states and in Federal Court, the amount of custody time each offense will carry is dependent upon the type and quantity and purity of drugs. Other factors like sales/distribution/transportation and conspiracy serve to increase punishment.

If arrested on drug offenses in California, Federal prosecution is an often times also an option. This is particularly true in Southern California where drug crossing from Mexico is plentiful and routine. Imposition of custody time in Federal court is dependent upon factors such as whether a conspiracy is charged, the quantity and quality of the drug involved and the type of drug involved.

Defending a drug case takes special skill and knowledge that is gained only through experience. Drug prosecution cases are always vulnerable to attack from a skilled and experienced criminal defense lawyer.
At Sevens Legal, we have several experienced drug criminal defense attorneys who share their knowledge amongst each other. We also have a very experienced criminal investigator who knows the processes of law enforcement protocol. Experts are also utilized in certain circumstances; all are weapons to achieve the best possible outcome for our client who is arrested on a drug-related offense.

For additional insight to a particular type of drug case, feel free to call Sevens Legal for a free case evaluation.
